Maclin Sloss Kennemer, age 94, of Tuscumbia, died Thursday, January 08, 2015. His family will receive friends, Saturday, 2-3 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Kennemer was a native of Athens, AL and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII.
He was a retired plant engineer with Ford Motor Co. and a member of First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia. He was a charter member of Capstone Engineering Society of the University of Alabama and was a member of Tuscumbia Kiwanis.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Dorothy Sockwell Kennemer; sons, James Chambers Kennemer and wife Nancy, John Maclin Kennemer and wife Lacey; daughter, Jane Kennemer Thatcher and husband Gary; sisters, Ann Gordon of Athens, Kay Thompson of Monrovia; grandchildren, Jason Thatcher, Ben Thatcher, Julie Thatcher, Jim Kennemer, Lindsay Hackney and Emory Kennemer; great-grandchildren, Parker Kennemer and Jenna Thatcher.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Colbert Caring Center, 102 N. Water St., Tuscumbia, AL 35674, First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia or a charity of your choice.
