A Celebration of Life for Lillie Mae Fennell Wiggins, 104 of Decatur will be noon Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Macedonia CP Church with Elder Benjamin Burt officiating and inhumation to follow in Bell Church Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Sunday from 2-6 and Monday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wiggins, born December 25, 1909 entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at her home. She was the only child born to the union of The Reverend Green Fennell and Eliza Moore Fennell.
Lillie Mae was preceded in death by husband, Allen Wiggins Sr., one daughter Hattie Marie Wiggins, four sons, Sam, Melvin, Theo, and Charlie Wiggins and one step-son James Simpson.
Lillie Mae, the daughter of a share cropper, was born in Whitesburg, Alabama. As a child, she attended the local church school and the Decatur City Schools. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Nebo (Bell) P. B. Church. Later on united with Spring Hill M. B. Church presently El Shaddai where she served on the Mother’s Board. In 2005 she reunited with Bell P. B. Church serving faithfully on the Mother’s Board. Lillie Mae had the opportunity to serve under the leadership of three of her grandsons, the late Reverend George S. Gray, Bishop John Gray and present Pastor, Elder Benjamin Burt.
On May 3, 1930 she married the late Allen Wiggins Sr. and to this union thirteen children were born. She was a devoted wife and worked beside her husband. She was also a homemaker, and mother not only to her children, but to all children she came in contact with.
She leaves to cherish her memory; three sons, the Reverend Allen (Brenda) Wiggins, Eddie (Mary Helen) Wiggins and James Alvin (Linda) Wiggins all of Decatur, Alabama; five daughters; Minister Geneva (Reverend Elijah) Gray Jr., Ellistine McDaniel, Eliza Mae (Henry) Minor, Gloria Dean (James) Wilkerson, and Mattie (Glen) Cain all of Decatur, Alabama; one devoted granddaughter whom she raised as her own Minister Brenda Jones of Decatur, Alabama; 39 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and 56 great, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
