Maxine McCluskey Ward was born on Jan. 14, 1930, in Waterloo, Alabama, the daughter of the late J. H. and Matilda McCluskey.
Maxine was married to Jamie Ross Ward, of Waterloo, Alabama, on Jan. 15, 1947.
She was employed at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home as a licensed practical nurse in the past.
She was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her four children, Larry Wayne Ward and wife, Sharon, of Azle, Texas, Jackie Ward, of Waterloo, Alabama, Mary Ann Ward Gean and her husband, Dannie, of Savannah, Tennessee, and Jerry Lynn Ward Sr. and his wife, Barbara, of Florence, Alabama; two sisters: Josie Rogers, of International Falls, Minnesota, and Iva McClure, of Burke, Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years; her grandson, Tim Gean; and a sister, Estelle Dennis, of Savannah, Tennessee.
Special thanks goes to the Florence Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Memories Unit for the wonderful care she has received for the past four years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 30, 2014, at Second Creek Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee, with David Rushlow officiating, and Kevin Ward, Jamie Gean, Brandon Morris, Tony Mena and Matt Slaton as pallbearers, and Jerry Lynn Ward Jr., Zack Ward and Jaxton Gean as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow in Williams Chapel Cemetery in Lauderdale County, Alabama.
