claudeMr. Claude Edwin “Red” Nichols, 85 of Florence passed away at his home on December 24, 2014 after an extended illness.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with burial in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Andy Fogle.

Red was born in Lebanon, Tennessee, he was of the Methodist faith; member of Florence Lodge #14; F+ AM, Florence, Alabama., life member of CAHABA Shrine Temple; 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Arizona Electrical Union, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alice Martin and Robert Taylor Nichols; brothers, Robert and Joe Nichols; and a sister, Edna Shorter.

He is survived by his wife, Imogene Phillips Nichols; brothers, Arthur A. Nichols and Ernest H. Nichols; and brother-in-law Ray Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Pete Keaton, Chip Phillips, Rusty Phillips, Bob Berry, Jim Berry and Tommy Green.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Red’s honor to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Red was a dedicated Shriner and over the years he made a difference in many lives with his time and financial support.
