Wess J. Shelton, 84, of Anderson passed from this life at ECM Hospital on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
Visitation for friends and family will be Thursday, December 18th, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Anderson. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Brother James Waddell officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Drew Shelton, Brett Sinyard, Jake Sewell, Tyler Mobley, Kip Williams and Aric Butler.
Mr. Shelton attended Lauderdale County High School. In early years he was employed with Sunbeam Bread, Reynolds and retired from Diamond Shamrock with 35 years of service. He was a self- employed car salesman who never saw a stranger. Wess was a Christian and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Anderson. He loved giving advice, lending a helping hand when he could and enjoyed spending time fishing with his grandchildren.
Wess was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Essie Shelton; brothers, James Lee and Billy Joe; great-great granddaughter, Kaidence Bryant and daughter-in-law, Susan Crumbley Shelton. Remaining siblings are Martha (Jerry) Horn and Harold (Sandra) Shelton. Wess leaves behind the love of his life, Pauline Dendy Shelton, wife of 66 years; children, David A. Shelton, Kathy (Larry) Sinyard and Rhonda (Owen) Sewell; grandchildren, Heather (Kip) Williams, Drew (Ashley) Shelton, Alana (Tyler) Mobley, Brett Sinyard, Calli Sewell and Jake Sewell; great-grandchildren, Tori Williams Bryant, Trenton Williams, Ansley, Brynley and Sutton Shelton Jack, Madison and Kenzie Mobley; great-great grandchild, Zaiden Bryant
