Victor Gladstone Addington – Obituary

Victor-Addington-1418219236Victor Gladstone Addington, 92, of Sheffield died Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Mr. Addington was a native of Scott County, Virginia, and a member of the Highland Park Church of Christ. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York, and was a veteran of World War II. He served 10 years with the U.S. Naval Reserve. He served on the Board of Directors for the Mars Hill Bible School and on the Board of Directors for the University of North Alabama Christian Student Center. Mr. Addington served two terms as Chairman of the Colbert County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret Ann Edger Addington; his parents, Hugh Milburn and Mattie Ellen Smith Addington; brothers, Larlyn Addington, R.G. Addington, Delmar Addington; and sisters, Elva Addington, Lyndell Addington, Louella Hilton, and Virginia Bond.

Surviving are his brother, Bruce Addington, Nickelsville, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Mike Drummond, Jasper, and Jenny Lynn and Joel Vinson, Decatur; grandsons, Michael Drummond and wife, Lee, Houston, Texas and Matthew Drummond, Malibu, California; great granddaughter, Margaret Addington Williams Drummond; and several nieces and nephews.

His graveside service will be Wednesday, December 17th at 11 a.m. with Ben Hayes officiating.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Billy Banks, Ben Hayes, Max Eady, Horace Cleveland, Jim Evans, and Pat Moon.

There will be a private family service.
