Shirley J. Wood, 85, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, in Southaven. She was born September 18, 1929 to the late Louie Doss and the late Agnes McMahon Doss. She married Thomas Wood and moved with him and their family to the Mississippi Delta where she raised her children and owned a beauty salon in Gunnison. They moved to Arizona for several years where she enjoyed the sunshine and living near her brother, Jimmy Doss and his family. She worked at several hair salons in the Tupelo area including Regis and J.C. Penney. She also worked for Cooper Tire Company in Tupelo. She loved gardening, reading, fishing, and watching women’s basketball.
Survivors include her Daughters: Danna (Richard) Fullilove of Tunica, Vicki Scruggs, Deborah (Bob) Sherman both of Fulton, Bettye (Chuck) Reece of Benson, AZ; Son, Larry Wood of Fulton, 7 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren, Sister, Betty Lundberg of Chandler, AZ, Brother, David (Doris) Doss of Turrell, AR, sisters-in-law: Annie Doss and Earline (Ralph) Gaither of Marietta, GA; and several Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sisters: Nancy Shaeffer and Elsie Conyers; Brothers, Billy W. Doss and Jimmy Doss.
