Ernest Leonard Upton, age 83, of Huntsville, died on Saturday November 29, 2014.
Mr. Upton was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Korea as a frontline medic. He was a retired security Guard, working 18 years with the Alabama Dept. of Parks and Recreation. Mr. Upton is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lula Upton; 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Mr. Upton is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Upton; his special granddaughter, MaKayla Upton; 2 other daughters, Terrie and Tammie; one son, Chad; his grandchildren, Kyle, Jennifer, Josh, Nick, and Caleb; and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Monday December 8, 2014 at 11am in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville with burial to follow at 2pm at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. The family will receive friends on that day from 9am until 11 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Upton requested that donations be made to the college fund of his granddaughter, MaKayla Upton.
