Bobby Tanner – Obituary

Bobby Tanner, 79, a native Huntsvillian, passed away Sunday. Bobby was married for 59 years to his high school sweetheart, Alice. He graduated from Huntsville High School in 1953. He attended Auburn University (API) and received his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1958. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Tanner was in Army ROTC and the Army Reserves, having served at Ft. Belvoir, VA from 1958-1959. His interests included golf, gardening and landscaping, bridge, and Auburn football.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Hinshaw Tanner; daughters, Judge Teresa Tanner Pulliam and husband, Maxwell H. Pulliam of Birmingham, and Leslie Tanner Ecklund and husband, Fred R. Ecklund of Huntsville; granddaughters, Alice Jordan Pulliam of Birmingham and Jill Ecklund Bulger of Johnstown, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gideon Blackburn House at First Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church with Dr. Mark Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
