Lelia Joan Bethea Webb, age 80, of Sheffield, passed away at the residence of her daughter on Sunday November 23, 2014.
Joan was the wife of Rev. Berkely Leigh Webb, who preceded her in death in 2012.
Joan attended Alabama College (University of Montevallo). She served with her husband in pastorates in both Indiana and Alabama. The Webbs served the Southern Baptist Convention for over 60 years. One of Joan’s greatest gifts to the church was her love of music, her beautiful voice, and her ability to live and share the Gospel.
Joan was born in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, A. J. and Corine Bethea, her husband, Berkely Webb, her son, Dwight Webb, and her brother, A.J. Bethea, Jr. Survivors in clued her daughter, Beth Webb Owen (Turner), her grandchildren, Jennifer Owen Oliva (Michael), Camden Owen, Grayson Owen, her great grandson, Michael Oliva, Jr., her siblings, Harold Bethea, Reginald Bethea, Raymon Bethea, Laurel Bethea Zielinski, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 26, 2014 at 11 am at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Madison, Alabama. Internment services will be held on Friday November 28, 2014 at 2 pm at Emmaus Cemetery in Luverne, Alabama.
