Funeral service for Mary Jane Morris, age 81, of Decatur, will be Thursday, November 20, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sawyer and Pastor Willis officiating. The family will receive friends today, Wednesday, November 19, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in New Friendship Cemetery.
Ms. Morris, who died Monday, November 17, 2014, at her residence, was born February 11, 1933, in Morgan County, to Walter C. Bates and Ola Lee Bates. She was preceded in death by her parents. Ms. Morris was a devoted and active member of Calvary Assembly where she led the Life Connections Group Bible study. During her lifetime, she taught Sunday school at several other churches.
She is survived by her son, James Walter Morris and wife, Donna Green Morris, of Decatur, and his father, J. W. Morris of Decatur; one sister, Dorothy Michael of Decatur; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be her church family.
