Rosa M. Vaughan, 70, of Hartselle, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014, at the home of her son, Michael, in Farmington, Ohio. Rosa was born December 9, 1943, in Cuba, Alabama, to Archie and Annie Laura Grant Crawford. In 1961, Rosa married James Vaughan Sr. and lived in the Cleveland area from 1961 to 1999 when they moved back to Alabama. While in Alabama, she worked for the Volunteers of America in home health care.
She was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hartselle. Her favorite pastime was pioneering. Her hobbies included bowling, playing scrabble, card games and cooking for everyone.
She will be missed by her family and friends including her husband James Sr.; her five children, James (Bonnie) Vaughan Jr. of Middlefield, Juanita (Legural) McCord of Tampa, FL, Michael Vaughan Sr. of Farmington, Tommy L. Vaughan of Atlanta, GA, and Rose Cherie Vaughan of Madison; 15 grandchildren, James (Jamie) Vaughan III, Demetria R. (Sterling) Gill, Dexter (Lu) Vaughan, Michea (Steve) Andrews, Michael Vaughan Jr., Brandon S. Vaughan, Chaning Vaughan, Alexis Brown, Devin Brown, Justin Brown, Cody M. Vaughan, Brittani Williams, Whitney (John) Robinson, Trenton Vaughan and Ke’Shawn Vaughan; 21 great- grandchildren; her siblings, Robert Crawford Sr., Dora M. Crawford, Willie Ann Crawford, Christine Crawford, Shirley Crawford, Arthur Mae Watkins, Rosie Rice, Essie M. Thomas and Joyce A. Thomas. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sibling, Willie Brewster.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Russell Funeral Service, 15670 West High St. (Rt. 87) Middlefield, OH. A service will also be held at the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hartselle at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2014.
