Memorial service for David Wayne Murphree, age 58, who passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital after a short illness, will be today at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Burt Anderson officiating. David was born December 3, 1955, to Leldon Edward Murphree and Elgin Owens Murphree who preceded him in death. His son Patrick Leldon Murphree also preceded him in death.
David was employed with Decatur Utilities for 35 years where he retired in 2010. He was a loving husband and father and loved hunting, fishing and motorcycles. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sue Ann Townsend Murphree; a brother, John Edward Murphree and wife, Nancy; a nephew, Jody Banks Murphree, and wife Andrea, and their children, Banks Murphree, Mary Reese Murphree, and Owen Patrick Murphree. Also his Mother-in-law, Janet Townsend; and brother-in-law, Mark Hamilton Townsend.
