James A. Hammond, 88, of Anderson, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Kevin Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Grassy Cemetery, with military honors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by his parents, Onus Alexander and Emily Belle Hammond, brother, Henry L. “Hank” Hammond, and his wife, Mildred Marie Hammond. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Jesse) Davis, of Athens, Pamela (Ron) Hall, of Rogersville, Frances (Joseph) Hidalgo, of Athens, and Julia (Larry) Vaughn, of Athens; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and sister, Mary Frances (Bill) Turpen.
