Funeral service for Charles Edgar Allen, age 85, of Decatur, will be today, Friday, October 24, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Private interment will be in Goosepond Cemetery, Scottsboro, AL.
Mr. Allen, who died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at his residence, was born September 22, 1929, in Jackson County, to Walter Edgar Allen and Mary Alice Dawson Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Aubrey Allen, William Allen, and Thomas Allen; and one sister, Katie Denham.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Hope Allen of Decatur; one son, Charles Eddie Allen (Barbie) of Decatur; three daughters, Brenda Patterson (Lynn), Gayle Temple (Blair), and Connie Littrell (Rich), all of Decatur; two brothers, Bernard Allen and James Allen, both of Scottsboro; one sister, Daisy Looney of Scottsboro; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
