Marilyn June Holmes, age 88, of Sheffield, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Her family will receive friends Thursday, 1-2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Larry Kilpatrick officiating. Interment service will be at 3:30 p.m. in Dement Cemetery, Athens. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kayann Lenz. Mrs. Holmes was a Sheffield native and a member of Cox Boulevard Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband, William R. Holmes, son Barry Holmes, sisters, Cora Gaskins, Jane Terrell and one grandson, William Lenz. Pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of Cox Blvd. Church of Christ. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to the ladies of Cox Blvd. Church of Christ and to the staff of North Alabama Hospice.
