Ruben Jackson Burns age 101, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Burns was born December 14, 1912 in Limestone County to William Thomas Burns and Ida Miller Burns.
Services for Mr. Burns are Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Sunday, October 12, 2014, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Point Cemetery with Phillip Owens, Norman Chastain and Sam Fowler officiating.
He was a member of Jackson Drive Church of Christ.
He is survived by his sons, Charles Burns and wife Annie and Frank Burns and wife Barbara; daughters, Judy Abernathy and husband Wesley and Wanda Woodfin and husband Glenn; 12 Grandchildren; 24 Great-grandchildren; 8 Great great-grandchildren; step-children, Eural Claxton, Joyce Matin, Jeanette Holt and Tommy Claxton; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his 1st wife, Mary Edna Burns; 2nd wife, Ila Mae Burns; parents, William and Ida Burns; one son; one daughter; step-daughter, Mauveolean Gey; several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers will be his Great-grandsons.
