Video Of The Shooting Incident Involving The Florence Police On Wednesday October 8

Florence-police-featured-210x125FLORENCE-We have received more information regarding the “Shots Fired” call made by the Florence Police Department on Wednesday, October 8th, along with dashboard video from the incident.  Here is a statement and the video provided by The Florence Police Department:

“At approximately 1:30p on 10-08-14 the Florence Police Department received a 911 call regarding a man with a gun in the area of Florence Fire Station #4 on Huntsville Road. The caller advised that a male with a straw hat and red shirt had approached his family in their vehicle and was acting erratic and pointed a rifle at his family. Florence officers responded to the scene and located the male in the 300 block of North Eclipse Street. The attached raw video was captured by the in car video systems of responding officers. Two shots were fired by a Florence Police Officer. Both of those rounds struck the pavement behind the suspect and no bystanders were injured during the encounter. The suspect was later determined to have a long cane wrapped in clothing, as shown in the video. The suspect was not struck by the rounds fired by the officer and was transported to a local medical facility for health/mental evaluation.”

I’m concerned about the accuracy of the Florence Police, especially when they are discharging their firearms in neighborhood.
