Elma Alford Stewart – Obituary

Elma Alford Stewart, 97 of Star City, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Bonnie. She was born February 19, 1917 in Lawrenceburg, TN to the late Gillie and Elma Fautz Alford.

She was known by many earthly names- Mother, Mama, Memom and Grandmom. Now she is once again known as Jamie’s “Sweetpea” while both sit at the feet of her precious Savior Jesus Christ-Son of God. Elma was a stay at home mom and was totally dedicated to her family.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James R. Stewart, Sr.

Elma is survived by her children, India (the late Kenneth) Hay of Columbia, TN, Bonnie Pearson of Star City, AR and James (Sharon) Stewart, Jr. of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dawn (Chris) Gray and Brian (Nikki) Hay of Columbia, TN, James (Jan) Stewart III and Jill (Chris) Hughes of Little Rock, AR, Stewart Pearson of Star City, Maggie Pearson of Evansville, IN, Emily Pearson and her fiance Drake Snyder of Star City, AR. Also great grandchildren, Christian, Jameson and Jocie Hughes, James IV, Thomas and Sarah Grace Stewart, Shelby and Sydney Hay, Molly and Hayley Gray and one great great-grandson, Brylen Gibson.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Neal Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at Kidd Cemetery at 4:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2014, with Rev. Joseph Alford officiating.
