Carolyn H. Giles, 86, of Huntsville, formerly of Louisville, KY, passed away Tuesday. Mrs. Giles had been a member of the Huntsville Organization of Miniature Enthusiasts since 1983. She was an employee of The Elf Shelf Toy Store from 1986 until 1996 where she enjoyed decorating many doll houses, and was an avid collector of miniature doll houses. She was a former volunteer for the Greater Huntsville Humane Society Thrift shop and The S.N.A.P. Thrift Shop. Mrs. Giles was a member of Trinity Methodist Church of Huntsville, and a member of the Exie Goyer Sunday School Class at Trinity.
She was married to the love of her life, the late CWO Retired William Giles for 39 wonderful years. Mrs. Giles was also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Benjamin Giles.
Survivors include children, Karen Lea Shaver and husband, Steve, of Parrish, AL, Keith D. Giles and wife, Karen of Hazel Green, and Barbara Lynn Giles of Maryland; grandchildren, William Shaver and wife, Amy, Brian Shaver and wife, Jennifer, Amanda Alford and husband, Stewart, William Reid and Philip Whitehouse, Melissa Giles and Samantha Giles; great-grandchildren, Michael, Aleasa and Sean Shaver; and her three little Chihuahuas.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. (www.laughlinservice.com)
