Funeral service for Mr. Harwell C. Gregg, 80, of Somerville, will be Sunday, October 5, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Decatur Central Baptist Church with Brother Robert Jackson and Brother Edwin Hodges officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Gregg died Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Princeton Baptist Medical Clinic in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lynwood B. Gregg.
He is survived by his wife, Edwina Hodges Gregg; two sons, William Gregg, Andrew Gregg and wife Meghan; three daughters, Rebecca Gregg Duke and husband, Mark, Amy Gregg McKay and husband, Mike, Maria Gregg Bates and husband, Dustin; one brother, Cecil C. Gregg; one sister, Betty F. Gregg; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gregg was born March 16, 1934 in Marion County to Cecil Gregg and Margie Caudle Gregg. He was a graduate of Elkmont High School and Auburn University. He was a retired chemical engineer from 3M and a former deacon at Central Baptist Church and First Baptist Church.
