Geraldine Langham Newsome – Obituary

gereldineMs. Geraldine Langham Newsome, 67, of Lawrenceville, GA., died September 17th. in Lawrencedille, GA.  Her funeral funeral will be Wednesday, September 24th. at 12:00 noon at First Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Wash Chilla Cemetery.

Geraldine was born January 6, 1947, the fourth child of ten born to the late Roy Langham Sr. and Bertha L. Langham of Town Creek, AL.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Langham and sister, Bobbie Jean Perkins, sister-in-law, Sandra “Faye” White, Maternal grandparents, Robert & Sallie Mae Harris and Paternal grandparents, Willie & Annie Langham.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Macedonia M.B. Church of Town Creek, AL.  She attended the former Central High School of Courtland, AL where she was a majorette and graduate in May 1966.

She retired from Kay Automotive Graphics in May 2007.  Geraldine was a beautiful kind-hearted person who loved to shop, cook and travel.  She was a dedicated mother and Granny who cherished family.  Her infectious smile will truly be remembered by all.

The Lord called Geraldine home on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.  She leaves to cherish her memory:  four devoted children:  Greta McCain (Steve) and Kristal Newson, both of Lawrenceville, GA, Gary Newson, Sr., Tarraino Newsome (Lucretia), both of Detroit MI and seven grandchildren:  Brittney Wright (Trinnon), Breshun McCain, Gary Newson, Jr., Norris Lester, Reno Newsome, Natalia Newsome, Shaun Newson and one great grandchild:  Myah Wright, mother:  Ms. Bertha L. Langham, Town Creek, AL, two sisters: Mrs. Annie Neloms, Leighton, AL, Ms. Bertha Jones, Hillsboro, AL, five brothers:  Mr. Robert Langham (Curlie), Town Creeek, AL., Mr. Roy Langham (Nadine), Rev. Lee Langham (Joann), both of Courtland, AL, Mr. Steven Langham (Carolyn), Mr. Willie B. Langham both of Town Creek, AL and two Aunts:  Mrs. Ethel Abernathy and Mrs. Victoria Stevenson, both from Florence, AL, three Aunt-in-lasw:  Mrs. Bessie B. Harris and Mrs. Lizzie Langham, both of Town Creek, AL. and Mrs. Bessie Harris of Chattanooga, TN.  Brother-in-laws:  Clifton Newson (Joyce) and M.C. White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
