Carmel Dean Olive, 84, of Florence, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 at ECM Hospital. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, was former State Commander of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, Alabama and Tennessee Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, York and Scottish Rite Bodies, former Potentate of Cahaba Shriners, Order of DeMolay, North Alabama State Fair Board, and he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Broadway Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Olive and the Rev. Dr. John Brock officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Cypress Inn, Tenn.
Mr. Olive was preceded in death by his parents, William David and Annie Bailey Olive; brother, W.D. Olive, Jr.; sister, Kathleen Olive McCrary.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, June Ingram Olive; sons, Cameron Olive (Lori), Dean Olive (Denise); daughters, Sandra Leibold (Terry), Susan Perry (Randy), Jamie Underwood (Larry); grandchildren, Daniel and Miranda Perry, Laura and Sara Leibold, Hallie, Katelyn, Morgan, Blaine, and Jackson Olive, Jeremy, and Jonathan Staggs, Jeremy and Justin Underwood; great-grandchildren, Issac Staggs, Carter and Rileigh Perry, Lexi, Brailey, and Brody Underwood.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and James Hall, and Kevin Reese.
