Gaither Donald Searcy (Don), 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 10, 2014.
Born and raised in Sheffield, Don was a graduate of Sterling High School. He attended Tennessee State University and was also a seaman in the U.S. Naval Corp. He was employed by Bell South and Reynolds Metals Company. He was also the owner/operator of Southern Telephone. Don was an avid golfer and a member of the Muscle Shoals Golf Association.
Viewing will take place at Thompson and Son Funeral Home in Tucumbia on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family hour from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. at High Street Church of Christ in Tuscumbia. He will be laid to rest at Shoals Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Searcy was preceded in death by his parents, Gaither Searcy Jr. and Ida Bell Searcy, his first wife, Stella Fields Searcy, his brother, Gary Searcy, and his sister-in-law, Janie Mae Searcy.
To cherish his memories he leaves his wife, Lynn; daughters, Vonda Searcy Moore (Anthony), Vetia Searcy Fusaro (Ilario), and Constance Cole-Baugus (Odie); sons, Pheon Searcy and Donald Demetrius Bullitt; his sisters, Greta Hamilton and Gail Jean Searcy; his brother, Gable Searcy (Gloria); 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters; two stepgrandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
