Artie Mae Hovater Canada, 87, of Toccoa Georgia, formerly of Muscle Shoals, was received into the Church Triumphant on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014.
Visitation will be Sunday Sept. 14, from 2-4 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens. The Reverend David Keister Sr. is officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Severne Canada, brothers, Zollie, Carlon, Homer, Fred, Delmer, Elmer, and Hovah Hovater, sisters, Lora Isbell, Lottie Kent, and Mary Pounders, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Survivors include by two daughters, Yvonne Canada and Mona Canada Keister (David), of Toccoa, Georgia;
three grandsons, David II, Ashleigh, Kevin, and Kenneth Keister; and four great-grandchildren, David III, Bryan, Audri, and Kaleb Keistetr; and many beloved nieces and nephews and their families. Her life made a difference to them all, and she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Canada was born June 19, 1927, in Tuscumbia and lived most of her life in Muscle Shoals. Mrs. Canada worked in childcare, and was a seamstress of the first class, but her most important work involved her love for God and her love of family. She was a faithful member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church and a lifelong follower of Christ.
