Bobby Royce Sparkman, age 79, of Sheffield, died Monday, September 08, 2014. His family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Colbert Memorial Chapel from 12-2pm. Bro. Jeff Newton of Valdosta Baptist Church will officiate the service beginning at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Bobby was a native of Decatur, AL, but lived most of his life in Sheffield. He was a graduate of Austinville High School and then served in the Navy for four years. He went on to graduate college with a degree in Accounting. He worked at Tennessee Valley Authority for several years before working for Reynolds Alloys Inc. in 1963 and retiring from Wise Alloys LLC in 2001. He was a Deacon at Valdosta Baptist Church and a Mason. He was a wonderful husband, father, and Pappaw.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley H. Sparkman; parents, Floyd and Lorene Puckett Sparkman; brothers, Vernon Sparkman, Harold Sparkman, Orvil Sparkman, and Royce Sparkman; and brother-in-law, Horace “Shorty” Beggs.
Survivors include his daughter, Regina Sparkman Young; grandchildren, Brandi Alldredge (David), Alan Crafton, and Chelsey Young Fuller (Adam); great grandchildren, Caleb and Brandon Alldredge, and Aiden Bobby Fuller; sister, Dorothy S. Beggs; brothers, Richard Sparkman, Cecil Sparkman, and Frank Sparkman; and brother-in-law, James Hester (Mary).
