Retired Command Sarg. Major John Frederick Weiske (Jack) of Fulton, MS, formerly of Princeton and Ripon, WI, left this earth on September 9, 2014.

One of three children, John was born July 23, 1929, in Montello, WI, to Paul and Hazel Eichler Weiske. He served his country for twenty years and retired from the Army in 1968 and then enjoyed a career in banking at the Bank of Highwood in Illinois. He was an avid reader and a war history buff. In earlier days, he was a licensed ham radio operator and enjoyed woodworking. John was a former member of the Waukegan Yacht Club and an accomplished boater. He and his wife Ruth enjoyed many happy times out on Lake Michigan and on the Mississippi River.

He loved God, his country, and his family.

Survivors include his son, David John Weiske and wife Patti, of Fulton; one grandson, Benjamin Lang Weiske; two great-grandchildren, Madison D. Weiske and John R. Weiske, of Cherry Valley, CA; a special friend and caregiver, Mary Lou Thackrey; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Lang of Ripon, WI, and Ginny Lang of Beloit, WI; six nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of over 60 years, Ruth Lang Weiske; and his two sisters, Joyce Weiske and Carol Weiske Daehn.

No services will be held. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in John’s memory.
