Wanda Joyce Blankinship, 66, of Muscle Shoals, died Monday September 8, 2014.
She has gone to be with her father, Veard Gurley; mother, Mary Gurley; brothers, Darrell Gurley, Johnny Gurley; sister, Hilda Whitehead; and grandson, Mason Waits.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Blankinship of Lexington; sons, David Blankinship (Stacie) of Tuscumbia, and Doug Blankinship (Alisa) of Niceville, Florida; daughters, Kim Waits (Allen) of Fairhope, and Kelly Marcum (Adam) of Tuscumbia; brother, Giles Gurley and his wife Julia of Florence; sister, Betty Honeycutt and her husband Lynn of Jasper. She will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren, Hannah, Kattie, Sarah (Kimberly), Austin (Kelly), Michael, Adrian, and Johnny (Doug); and several of her nieces and nephews.
Mom lived every day. She loved sewing, flowers, cooking, good friends and Crimson Tide football. She was charismatic, usually in charge, and always reliable. We all miss her greatly.
Friends are welcome for visitation from 11-12pm on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Colbert Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 12pm.
