David Arnold Murphy – Obituary

David Arnold Murphy, age 72, of Florence, Alabama, passed away Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, from an extended illness at his home surrounded by his children. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, noon-1 p.m. at Murphy’s Chapel. His funeral service will follow with Brother Larry Burbank officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Murphy was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country with pride. He worked at Browns Ferry for many years. David was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Lanier Murphy, his mother, Esther Opal Kelly, two brothers, Roger Dale Murphy and Jimmy Dale Murphy, and sister, Anita Faye Murphy.

He is survived by his daughter, Letha Murphy Gibson (John); his son, Darrel David Murphy; granddaughters, Christina Murphy Keeton (Shane) and Katelin Danielle Murphy (Tyler); grandsons, Austin Blake Murphy, David Blair Gibson, and John Caleb Gibson; and one great-granddaughter, Mahaela Grace Murphy; and soon to be great-grandson, David Elijah Purser; sister, Patricia Ann Murphy; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; one best friend, Jimmy Stutts; special “unkie,” Leonard; and cousin Don Newton; and many more friends. 

Pallbearers are Austin Murphy, John Gibson, David Gibson, Charles Murphy, Jimmy Stutts, Tyler Purser, Shane Keeton, and Brian Hubbard.
