Kay Herston Mason, 62, of Rogersville died Sunday, September 7th, 2014 at UAB Hospital.
She was a 1969 graduate of Lauderdale County High School, a member of Whitehead Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family and church.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 – 6 p.m. at Whitehead Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow immediately at the church with David Mason and Keith Hawk officiating. Burial will be in Harvey Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Irene Herston and brother, Jim Herston. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donnie Mason; children, Eddie (Stacy) Mason, Adam (Beth) Mason and Kasey Word; grandchildren, Molly, Hannah, Evan, Connor, Collin, Caleb, Whitley and Rylan; sisters, Reba (Lowell) Snoddy, Marie (Jimmy) Roberson and Blanche (Roland) White; sister-in-law, Marie Kennemer; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the Alabama Kidney Foundation at alkidney.org.
The family would like to express thanks to all the staff and nurses at DaVita Dialysis, Florence, to all the surgical doctors with the kidney transplant team, UAB, Birmingham and to the 7th floor SICU nurses, UAB, Birmingham.
