Betty Long Wyskida – Obituary

Betty Long Wyskida, 82, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday afternoon at Huntsville Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard M. Wyskida; two siblings, Josephine Scarborough of Rockford, Alabama, and Dan Long of Russellville, Alabama; children, Alan Wyskida (Millie) and Carol Wyskida-Stafford (Craig), of Huntsville; five grandchildren, Sarah Wyskida, Alexander Christian Stafford Wyskida, Betty Jerome (David), Holly Stafford Anderson (Daniel), and Brian Mitchell Stafford; two great-grandchildren, David Jerome and Emilie Jerome, all of Huntsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and L.E. Long of Newburg, Alabama, and her younger brother, J.W. Long of Newburg, Alabama.

Betty was a graduate of Samford University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1958. She also attended graduate school at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

She was employed with the Department of Defense as a Civil Servant for 26 years at Redstone Arsenal. She was a wonderful chef and baker, and ran her own catering business for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be missed by all.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014, 8:30-10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that remembrances be made to the Pulmonary
Hypertension Association, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, or a favorite charity.
