James Rayburn McCreless passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital at the age of 78. James was born July 13, 1936, to Burl and Rose McCreless. James was a loving husband and father. He graduated from Hokes Bluff High School in Gadsden and then entered the Marines serving our country. He retired from Ford Motor Company Real Estate Loan Division. James was a member of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church for 50 years where he was a deacon. He had taught Sunday school and training union for all ages. He was a past Gideon, past president of Decatur Civitan Club and served as district
treasurer twice. James was preceded in death by his parents, brother- in-law, W.B. Garner, in-laws, Bart and Ruth Bolton and his daughter, Gina McCreless.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patsy; two brothers, John (Karen) and Larry McCreless of Gadsden; sister, Sue Garner of Montgomery and brother-in-law, Gary Bolton (Diane) of Gadsden.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David Kelly officiating. A time of visitation will be today, September 4, 2014,
from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Lang, Joey Jones, Brad King, David and John McCreless and Gary Bolton.
