Stanley Lance Lash II of Florence, AL passed away suddenly at his home Tuesday, August 26, 2014. He was 29 years old, a husband, father, son, uncle, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was born June 3, 1985 in Florence, AL to his parents Stanley and LeAnn Frye Lash. He was an Eagle Scout, an extremely hard worker, and a true friend. Lance graduated from Bradshaw High School in 2004. He later served a mission for his church as a Spanish speaking missionary to the Arizona, Tempe Mission for 2 years where he shared his testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ and helped bring others unto Christ. He returned a man of honor and set an amazing example for others around him to follow. He consistently demonstrated strong desire to serve others who needed help in small ways or who had experienced tragedies in their lives. He was just always there. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and began working at T.E. Lott and Company in Columbus, MS. He is survived by his wife of 4 years, Laura Byrd Lash to whom he was sealed for time and all eternity in the Birmingham, AL Temple May 22, 2010, a son Carson Lance Lash; his parents Stanley and LeAnn Lash; 2 brothers Russell Taylor (Lora) and Phillip Smith, all of Huntsville, AL; sister Sharon Taylor of Denton, TX; his grandmother Juanita Frye of Florence, AL; 4 nephews, 4 nieces, and many aunts, uncles, cousins. Survivors also include his in-laws Stevie and Beth Byrd of Booneville, MS; and brothers-in-law Michael Byrd (Charity) of Provo, UT, and Steven Byrd of Booneville, MS. He was preceded in death by his grandparents James K. Frye, and Cecil and Faye Lash. Visitation will take place at Spry-Williams Funeral Home in Florence, AL on Friday, August 29, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florence, AL. Lance will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery, Killen, AL. Pallbearers will be Jacob Frye, Troy Frye, Forrest Lyon, Will Walker, Matt Walker and Matt Westcott. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Meza, Ruben Martinez, Jr., Elder Carson Martinez, Eric Lyon and Ruben Martinez.
