James Wesley White – Obituary

James Wesley White, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on August 27, 2014 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Marvin S. White and Anniema Long White of Hamilton, AL. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Joyce Clark White; son, William Marvin White of Huntsville, AL; and daughter, Mary Yvette Lourie (Gary); and three grandchildren, H. Jackson Lourie, Mary Wesleigh Lourie, and Joy Alexandra Lourie, all of Atlanta, GA.

James was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 252nd Transportation Company from 1950-1952. After service, he entered Auburn University, graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He worked with Thiokol Chemical Engineering Company and transferred to the Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL; he retired in 2000.

James was an active member of Whitesburg Baptist Church for over 50 years and taught children in Sunday school for many years.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014, with service immediately following at the Whitesburg Baptist Center Chapel, 7300 Whitesburg Drive, Huntsville, AL. Committal will follow in Hamilton, AL at the Fulton Bridge Baptist Church.
