John “J.E.” Smith, age 82, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro, TN. He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired from Murray Ohio, a farmer in Lawrence County for many years, served on the Board of Directors for Lawrence County Farm Bureau, and a member of Salem Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble Franklin Smith, Sr. and Susie Bell Shelby Smith; wife of 61 years, Mary Elizabeth Martin Smith; and one brother, Noble Franklin Smith, Jr.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Monday, August 25, 2014, with Keith Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at Restview Cemetery in Loretto, TN.
