Jean Thigpen Gargis, 86, of Lexington, AL, passed away August 17, 2014 after an extended illness. Mrs. Gargis was a housewife and was of the Church of Christ faith.

Daughters: Carolyn Wisdom (Rayburn) of Loretto, TN & Patricia Hughes of Florence, AL
Brother: M.L. Clemmons, Jr.
Grandchildren: Nichole Wisdom of Charlottesville, VA; Rayburn Wisdom, II (Sonya) of Lawrenceburg, TN; Sabrina Seal (Chris) of Spring Hill, TN; and Ashley Nichols (Matt) of Muscle Shoals, AL
Great-grandchildren: Reagan Wisdom and Camden Seal
Special Niece: Kathy Westmoreland of Louisville, KY
Mrs. Gargis was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Villard “Tootsie” Thigpen and son Timothy Thigpen; husband W.C. Gargis; brother Reeder Clemmons; sisters Stella Wallace and Corene Clemmons; son-in-law Nathan Hughes; and grandson Perry Sean Wisdom.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 12-2:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Lexington, AL. Pallbearers will be Chris Seal, Matt Nichols, Gary Beavers, Mickey Beavers, Rayburn Wisdom, II and James Buddy Stutts. Honorary pallbearers will be James McGee, Horace McGee, and J.D. Glover.
The family would like to especially thank Linda Beavers for her special care during Mrs. Gargis’ illness.
