Mary Eleanor Newton, 83, of Huntsville died Thursday, August 14th. Born and raised in Huntsville, Mrs. Newton attended Lincoln School, was a devoted and talented homemaker, and later retired from Amsouth Bank. She was a cherished wife, and beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 67 years, Houston Eugene Newton, with whom she shared a lifetime of love. Mrs. Newton is survived by her son, Michael E. Newton (Peggy); her four grandchildren, Ginger N. Flores (Tony), Lee M. Newton (Vanessa), Brady E. Newton, and Rusty C. Newton (Stephanie); three great-grandchildren, Rockell Aurora Newton, Brice Houston Newton, and Xyra Eleanor Newton; a sister, Elizabeth Baker (Don); treasured nieces and nephews, and a host of special neighbors and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 12 :00 pm to 2 :00 pm at Berryhill Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 2:30pm at Maple Hill Cemetery with Don Diekman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clearview Cancer Institute in honor of Dr. Jeremy Hon.
