Decatur Police Arrest One In Drug Bust At Local Hotel

DECATUR-The Decatur Police’s Anti-Crime Unit responded to call at the American Inn on Highway 31 South.  When they arrived at the room in question they discovered quantities of illegal drugs and drug sale paraphernalia.  Here is how the Decatur Police describe events leading up to the arrest of one man:

SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:

“On August 6, 2014, at approximately 2040hrs, Officers Michael Kitchens and Jonathan Macklin, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit responded to the American Inn (2617 Hwy 31 South) room 111 regarding complaints of illegal drug sales. Once at the room, officers made contact with an occupant identified as Shannon Levoid Turner.

During the course of the investigation, Turner was found to be in possession of a quantity of powder cocaine, prescription medication without a prescription, marijuana and drug sale paraphernalia. As officers attempted to place Turner under arrest, he pushed away from officers and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief struggle, officers were able gain control of Turner and place him in handcuffs.

Turner was transported to the Decatur City Jail where he was processed in without incident. Turner was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering With Physical Evidence and Resisting Arrest.

Turner will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $7,000.00 bond.”
