Farrell D. McKelvey – Obituary

Farrell D. McKelvey, 86, of Tuscaloosa, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at 11:40 p.m. at the Hospice Home of Tuscaloosa. Farrell, known to most as F.D., was born August 22, 1927, to the late William G. and Geneva J. McKelvey of Moulton. He was a member of the Northport Church of Christ for many years. A family memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, in Tuscaloosa. Arrangements are being handled by Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. 

Mr. McKelvey was a veteran of Foreign Wars in the United States Navy. He owned McKelvey Chrysler & Plymouth Auto Dealership and McKelvey Texaco Oil Company in Moulton in the 1960s and 1970s before moving to Tuscaloosa in the mid- 1980s where he was a superintendent for WAR Construction Company. 

He is survived by his wife, Linda P. McKelvey; four sons, Dwayne McKelvey (Patti) of Trinity, Lynn McKelvey (Michelle) of Tuscaloosa, Hunter McKelvey (Brook) of Nashville, Tenn., and Ray McKelvey of Decatur; two daughters, Martha Phillips (Gary) of Tuscaloosa and Erin Blackwood (Brad) of Memphis, Tenn.; along with 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Any memorials may be made in the form of a donation to Hospice of North Alabama or Hospice of West Alabama.
