James “Barry” Baron Thirkill – Obituary

Funeral for Mr. James “Barry” Baron Thirkill, 59 of Moulton, Alabama will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at Smith Chapel C.M.E. Church in Moulton, Alabama with the Reverend Harold Turner officiating and inhumation to follow in Landersville Cemetery.  Viewing at the funeral home will be Wednesday, 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

James Baron “Barry” Thirkill was born on April 21, 1955 to the late James and Katherine Webb Thirkill in Moulton, Alabama.  He departed this life on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Mt. Royal Nursing Home in Birmingham, Alabama.

He accepted Christ and joined Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church at the age of seven.

Barry attended Moulton High School.  He worked as an assistant to various brick masons in the Lawrence County area.

He moved to Birmingham when his health failed him several years ago.  He received health care from the Mt. Royal Nursing Home.

Left to cherish his memory are: one daughter, Debora Garner of Athens, AL; two grandchildren, Antoine Yarborough of Decatur, AL and Shakhia Yarborough of Athens, AL; two siblings, Kenneth Wayne (Delphine) Thirkill of Birmingham, AL and Loretta (Ann) Thirkill of Moulton, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Posey (Buck) Gholston, Frank Griffin, Al Burgess, Tony Webb, Allen Webb and Roderick Petty. The flower bearers will be relatives and friends.
