Ethel Glasco Rice – Obituary

Funeral for Ethel Glasco Rice, 87, of Moulton will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Reverand Doctor Carl Evans officiating with burial at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, June 30, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ethel, who died June 27, 2014, was born June 7, 1927, in Moulton to Earl Glasco and Elsie Hodge Glasco. Her hobbies were gardening, quilting, embroidery, crocheting and mostly cooking. She retired from Lurleen B. Wallace Center in 1988, after 15 years of service and was a member of East End United methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Rice; son, Grady Boyd Rice (Sylvia Barnes), and brother, William “Bill” Glasco.

Survivors include daughters, Donna Elmore, Naomi Nelson (Steve), Rebecca Bailey (Jerry), Johanna Aldridge (Lewis) all of Moulton; grandchildren, Cynthia Shaver (Phil) Jennifer McBride (Calvin), Phyllis Wright (Keith), Phillip Rice (Heather), Matthew Rice, Amy Horton (Tim), Tracie Dubon, Heather Mannion (Gavin), Steven Nelson II (Sherry), Mary Beth Fisher, Katie Pope (Ken), Ryan Bailey (Ragan), Adam Bailey (Whitney) and Josh Aldridge; 25 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Letha McBride of Tampa, Fla., Ola Sherman, Decatur and Dewayne Glasco of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Phillip Rice, Steve Nelson II, Ryan Bailey, Adam Bailey, Matthew Rice and Josh Aldridge.

In lieu of flowers, family request all memorials be made to Hospice of the Valley or St. Jude’s.
