Funeral services for Arvil Douglas ‘Fats’ Rodgers, 88 of Jones Chapel, will be at 2 p.m., Friday, June 27th, 2014 at Jones Chapel First Baptist Church, Revs. Randall Edmondson and Steve Rodgers officiating with interment in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Rodgers passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at NHC Health Care in Moulton. He was born July 6, 1925 to Eli V. & Lula Mae Aderholt Rodgers. Arvil served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a longtime member of Jones Chapel First Baptist Church. He was a poultry and cattle farmer and worked with the road department for many years. He was an avid fisherman and bowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Billie Sue Rodgers; four brothers, Loyal Rodgers, Curtis Rodgers, Manus Rodgers, Athel Rodgers and a sister, Lois Jones.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Maddie McKenney and Elijah Tuckier, two daughters, Beth (Dr. Rex) Tuckier of Moulton and Amanda (John) McKenney of Cullman; a son, Terry Rodgers; a brother, J.W. (Clovis) Rodgers of California; three sisters, Pearl Sandifer of Mobile, Bonnie Skinner of Cullman, Beatrice Scott of South Carolina;; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday evening at the church from 5:30 – 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10-2 p.m.
