MaryBeth Roche McDade, age 56, died Sunday June 22, at the home of Sid and Marye Elliott, Florence, AL, surrounded by her family and close friends. She had bravely fought a battle with breast cancer over six years and lived in Florence again for her last 18 days on earth.
Her permanent home had been Memphis, TN, where she was employed by the Memphis Country Club over the last 10 years. She graduated in 1993 from the University of Memphis with a BA degree in French, with a minor in international business. Previously, she worked with her family who owned the Lakeview Restaurant in Florence. She loved animals and anything French. She would like to be remembered as a loving friend, humorous, fun-loving, imaginative, creative, kind, friendly and spiritual soul who never meant harm to anyone.
MaryBeth was preceded in death by her father, George Roach, Jr., Florence, AL. She is survived by her mother, Pauline Roach, Sheffield, AL; brother, James William (Pete) Roach, South Korea; sisters, Polly Hyatt, Alpharetta, GA, and Lila Stapler, Sheffield, AL; several nieces and nephews, her devoted Timmy (her cat) and a host of admiring friends and associates.
Honorary pallbearers: Aaron and Ashton Stapler, Tim Smith, Deborah Cox, Leza Duncan, Dillon Elliott, Sid and Marye Elliott, Steve (The Reverend) Price, Eddie Turner, Arthur Kirkby, Scott the “Record Player’, Dr. Martin Fleming, David Bowie, Claudia Elliott and Jane Parks.
Special thanks to: Preston and Betsy Wilson, the Kares Family, Methodist Hospice of Memphis, Marcus at West Clinic in Memphis, Memphis Country Club, and especially the members of the Shoals Hospice of Florence and Dr. Robert Webb.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the home of Sid and Marye Elliott, 101 Eagle Cove, Florence on Sunday June 29 at 2 PM. An additional memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30, at 1:30 PM In Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis.
