John Willie Steakley, 98, of New Market passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Tutt Fann Veterans Home. Mr. Steakley was preceded in death by his two wives Gladys Steakley and Jean Steakley, two brothers Jesse and Elwood and two sisters Annie and Lillie Mae. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in WW II. He is survived by his daughter Wanda McGettigan (Rick), granddaughter, Lisa Munger (Jack) and grandsons, Robert McGettigan (Jenni), Brendan McGettigan (Amber) and Bill McGettigan (Tracy). Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by a 2:00pm chapel service with Reverend Buddy Alverson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of North Alabama. Berryill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
