Graveside service for Jerry Jason Compton, 61, of Trinity will be Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Reverend Ben Raper officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Compton died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born September 13, 1952, in Decatur to Elbert and Maevene Compton. He retired as a foreman for Prestolite Company. Mr. Compton loved to write country songs, sing and play several different instruments for his friends and loved ones. He will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his son, Todd Compton; one brother, Wayne Compton and his parents.
Survivors include one son, Jason Compton; one daughter, Abbie Compton; five grandchildren, Lindsay Compton, Austin Compton, Jaslynn Compton, Wyatt Compton and Lacey Compton; one great-grandchild, Bentley Aker; one brother, Barry Compton; one sister, Charlotte Raper; and girlfriend, Babette Collins.
Pallbearers will be Richard Eubanks, Tatum Terry, Scotty Terry, Daniel Maples, Phillip Maples and Stacy Shelton.
