Charles Forrest “C.F.” McGee – Obituary

charlesCharles Forrest “C.F.” McGee, 85, passed away June 14, 2014 at his home in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. He was born July 30, 1928 in Westpoint, Tenn. C.F. graduated from Loretto High School and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Katherine Moore and celebrated 63 years of marriage last year. For thirty years, he worked for Murray Ohio Manufacturing. He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, where he served as national director, and was also named Jaycee’s Young Man of the Year in 1968. C.F. loved his community and was active in local politics. He served as Commissioner of Safety for the city of Lawrenceburg from 1985 to 1993. He was a member of First Street Church of Christ. He loved to walk, often to frequent Square Forty or Ledbetter’s Drug Store, where he was known for his lively stories of life in Lawrence County. 

He was preceded in death his parents, Mary Elizabeth (Shelton) McGee Gwinn and Edward Carnell McGee. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine Moore McGee; son, Charles Danny McGee and his wife, Kathleen; son, Chipper Newton McGee and his wife, Karen; six grandchildren: David (Rose) McGee, Kent (Candice) McGee, Katie (Brent) Moody, Corey McGee, Steven (Stephanie) McGee, Sean McGee; and seven great-grandchildren Kenny, Jensen, and Lendyn McGee; Aiden McGee; Chelsea and Titus Moody; Forrest McGee. 

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, June 16, 2014 at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 17, 2014, with Drew Edwards officiating.  Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors.
