Bennie Theo “Poochum” (Milligan) Cossey – Obituary

bennieBennie Theo Milligan Cossey, also known as “Poochum” to her family and close friends, of Florence, passed away Saturday June 14, 2014, after a long and enriched life of 90 years.
She was born November 3, 1923, to Benjamin and Laura White Milligan. Mrs. Cossey was a long-time member of Florence Boulevard Church of Christ. She was retired from Tee Jays and was an avid seamtress.
Visitation will be Monday, June 16, 2014 from 11-2:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Chris Kemp officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park. 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey Doyle Cossey; sisters, Elease Condrey and Betty Jones, and brother, Waymon Milligan. 
She is survived by her daughters Martha Willis and Ray, Kathy Jones and Jim, Sherry Gist; son, Garry Cossey; grandchildren, Dawn Pettus and Joel, Amy Whicker and Ladd, Chris Gist and Susan, Paige Michael, Rocky Gist, Molly Parker and Clifton, Ashley Scott and Brandon and Stacy Nichols; 22 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; 
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris and Rocky Gist. Pallbearers will be her nephews and great grandsons.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Hospice of the Tennessee Valley; Shelley Grimwwood, RN., and Ms. Mary Wood and staff and a special thanks to Lyman Mitchell, MD., and Pam Hill, CRNP and caregivers; Valerie Mitchell and Vanessa Keenum.
