James “Jim” Smith, 77, of Courtland will be Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Scotty Letson officiating. Burial will be in Graham Cemetery at Harmony Methodist Church with Masonic Rites. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, who died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at home, was born January 3, 1937, in Lawrence County to the late Auburn Smith and Almeda Burden Smith. He retired as a personnel director for General Motors. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed gardening, visiting with family and friends, basketball and Alabama football. He was active in the American Legion, a member of the Rising Sun Lodge No. 29 F&AM and was a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Owen Smith; one daughter, Lisa Craft; stepsons, Ben Logston (Donna), Chris Logston (Francee), Michael Logston (Nicole) and Chad Logston; grandson, Derek Mitchell; stepgrandchildren, Matthew Logston, Cameron Logston, Bailey Logston, Peyton Logston, Paul Logston and Brice Logston; two great-grandchildren, Lillianna Mitchell and Barrett Mitchell; stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyde Logston, Lauren Green and Lane Green; one brother, Larry Smith (Ora Dean); and one sister, Jane Baldwin (Buel).

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
