Jake Alexander Wood – Obituary

JakeJake Alexander Wood, age 26, of Florence, Alabama, passed away on June 9, 2014. The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 13, at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the First United Methodist Church of Florence with Dr. Gary Formby officiating. He will lie-in-state from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Daniel Harber, Nick Bramlett, Jim Ogle, Alex Beumer, Tyler Ross, and Michael Mudler. 

Jake is survived by his wife, Mallory Harber Wood; his son, Walker Graham Wood; parents, Kevin and Janet Wood; grandparents, Dale Wood and Jeanne Broadfoot; father-in-law, Johnny Harber; and mother-in-law, LeAnne Kay. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Benjamin Broadfoot, and his grandmothers, Sherrin Wood and Rose Stumpe Broadfoot. 

Jake was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Florence and attended Auburn University and the University of North Alabama. Jake was a dedicated and loving husband and father. He was a blessed and talented musician who truly expressed himself through his music. Jake’s charismatic personality was continually demonstrated through his love for life and everyone he met. 

The Wood family would like to express a very heartfelt thank you to all of their friends and family for the love and endless support which is helping us to embrace our loss.
