Mr. William D. Tease, 73 of Florence passed away Monday June 9, 2014 at Trinity Medical Center, Birmingham.
Mr. Tease was a native and life-long resident of Lauderdale County. He was a 1959 graduate of Coffee High School, 1963 graduate of Florence State College(now UNA), and graduated from Auburn University with a Masters of Education Degree in 1972.
He was employed by Florence City Board of Education for 35 years as a high school mathematics teacher and coach, retiring from the classroom in 1998. He taught 9th grade algebra at Appelby Jr. High School from 1963 to 1966 moving in to Bradshaw High School when built in 1966 and spent the next 32 years there.
William coached four sports at Bradshaw, football, basketball, baseball, and softball, coached boys and girls basketball for 25 years and was an assistant boys coach in 1976 when Bradshaw won its only state’s championship in basketball. He started the girl’s softball program at Bradshaw in 1986 and was the head coach for 12 years.
He was past president of Florence Little League at McFarland Park, Honorary member of Alpha Mu Epsilon Mathematics Society, trustee chairperson at Edgemont United Methodist Church, member of Finance Committee and Administrative Council, member of Friendship Class, and a member of the Red Elephant Club of NW Alabama.
Visitation will be today, June 12, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. at Edgemont United Methodist Church with the funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Florence City Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Montgomery.
Mr. Tease is survived by his wife, Brenda Tease of Florence, sons, Christian and wife Kim of Grayson, GA., Michael and wife Natalie of Athens, Keith Tice and wife Shari of Pinson, Kevin Tice and wife Michelle of Florence, Mark Tice , of Prattville, and Blair Tice of Florence, grandchildren, Anastasia, Olivia, Ethan Tease, Kyle, Katherine, Ryan, Mary Alan and Emmeline Tice.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Carringer, Gerald Clark, Gary Elliott, Bill Lee, Lyn Melton, and Paul Ochsenknecht.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Edgemont United Methodist Friendship Class.
Coach Tease loved all sports, especially Alabama Football. He was loved and adored by all whose lives he touched.
Rest in peace, my love, until we meet again.
